>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> VERSION 1.50 NOTICE <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<
Version 1.50 of the CONLOG system was released on 11-13-87. Due
to the proximity of the Phone weekend of this year's contest, this
release does NOT include updated documentation. Instead, the following
notes indicate changes between Version 1.40 and Version 1.50. Sorry
about that, but there is no other way to get this new version out in
time for Contest '87.
Regarding phone calls: Due to time limitations, I do not normally
offer online phone help. However, that does not stop people from
calling me <grin>. Please be advised, though, that I will be
working the Phone weekend of the contest, and I definitely will
NOT accept calls relative to any of my programs. No apologies --
where the sweepstakes is concerned, even my wife knows better than
to disturb me! Thank you for your cooperation, and I'll see you on
the bands. If you work me, let me know you're using CONLOG.
1. All known bugs fixed including:
a) Invalid re-reading of QSO times from SWEEPS.* files
b) Error in Duplicate check sheet if a call area had no contacts
c) Score calculation error in all programs which did not allow
scores above 65536 points. Current range is 999,999. (good luck!)
d) Missing 160 Meter band entry fixed
2. Added feature:
Precedence "Q" (5 watts or less) is now supported in all programs.
3. In CONLOG, the "spacebar" will no longer toggle the PREC field from
"A" to "B". For a new entry, the default is B. Type A or Q to
change it.
4. In CONLOG, worked sections may now be left visible instead of being
erased. INSTCLOG will allow the setting of a "worked sections"
color. To make them invisible as in Version 1.40, set this color to
BLACK (color 00). The new default is GRAY (color 08), but any color
may be used.
If using a Monochrome system, the worked sections will be either
underlined or invisible, depending upon user setup in INSTCLOG.
The parameter line in the CONLOG.PRM file would be as follows:
R- Use black & white, invisible worked sections
R_ Use black & white, underlined worked sections for
MONO cards, gray worked sections for all others
R=nn,nn... As defined in the CONLOG manual, except there is one
additional entry. This last entry is the worked sections
color.
5. In Version 1.40, if editing a log entry, a duplicate callsign
message appeared if you edited the callsign field but left it
the same as the original. This was because the duplicate check would
actually find the entry you were editing and "think" it was a
duplicate. This has been changed. The duplicate check during
the edit function will NOT check the actual entry being edited.
6. Control-C is "trapped" and ignored by CONLOG. However, it is still
echoed to the screen by MS-DOS as the characters "^C". CONLOG
does not prevent this echo, and the characters MAY then remain
on the screen. If this is done when the cursor is near the bottom
of the screen, you may cause a scroll up of the CONLOG screen, and
the display will then be messed up, although the program will still
operate correctly. There is no remedy for this other than to SAVE
your log to disk, exit CONLOG, re-enter CONLOG, and re-read the last
saved file. Messy. So, PLEASE, do NOT type Control-C. It will
NOT cause a program exit like many other DOS programs, and will
only mess up your screen. Further development of CONLOG may be
able to suppress the ^C characters, but not in Version 1.50.
7. Earlier releases allowed a callsign to be entered without any number.
When this log was later run through DUPSHEET, the sorting process
became totally lost, since the sort depends upon each callsign
having at least one digit. CONLOG 1.50 will check the callsign
field and report an error if a digit is not present.
8. DUPSHEET did not print the first 7 Canadian callsigns if there were more
than 7 Canadian stations worked. This has been remedied.
9. The BACKUP.LOG should be erased or renamed before starting a fresh
contest to avoid merging log entries from different weekends, or from
practice and the real thing. If CONLOG detects an existing BACKUP.LOG
file during initialization, it will ask if you wish to continue using
it, or open a new file. If you open a new file, the existing file
is renamed to BACKUP.BAK. Any existing BACKUP.BAK file is then lost.
